Appointments with GPs and Practice Nurses

The surgery is open from 8.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday and all consultations are by appointment.

We aim to provide an efficient and high quality service that responds appropriately to the urgency of your problem.

- Routine Appointments can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance with the doctor or nurse of your choice. However, during busy periods you may be offered an appointment with an alternative doctor.

- Routine telephone appointments are available if your problem can be dealt with over the phone e.g. discussing results or medication. You will be given an approximate time when the doctor will call you, so please leave several phone numbers if necessary.

- Urgent Appointments are available if you feel you need to be seen within a few days. These appointments may be with any doctor or nurse. These surgeries can get very busy and we apologise if you have to wait.

- Emergency Appointments are available on the same day if your problem is an emergency. Please tell the receptionist (briefly) the nature of the problem so the appropriate duty doctor or nurse can call you back. The appropriate advice, appointment or home visit will then be given. If possible, please try to call between 8:30 and 10:30 am so we can see you later the same morning if necessary.

- Extended Hours appointments. We offer a small number of routine 'early morning' and 'early evening' doctor appointments for patients who find it difficult to attend the surgery within normal opening times. These are held between 7:00am - 8:00am and between 6:30pm - 7:30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays. These appointments should be booked in advance via reception. The surgery is closed for all other business during this time.

Surgeries Running Late

Each GP appointment is for 10 minutes and a typical surgery has 15 patients. Sometimes the doctor will have to spend longer with a particular patient for a difficult problem and occasionally the doctor will be called out of the surgery for an emergency. In these situations it is inevitable that the surgery will run late and we will let you know if the expected waiting time is more than 30 minutes. Please help us to run on time wherever possible by booking one appointment for one person for one problem. If you need another member of your family to be seen, or have several problems which need to be dealt with, please make separate appointments.

This is also true for our Practice Nurses. We pre-book a number of nurse appointments in every surgery but the Nurses also have to deal with problems which arise on the day such as doing urgent ECGs, assisting the doctors or sending patients in to hospital for emergency care.

Booking appointments on-line.

Once you have a user ID, which can be obtained in person,  from our reception desk, you can book and cancel routine appointments on-line by clicking  <here>  Not all appointments are available on-line so if you can't find what you are looking for, please call the surgery.

When attending the surgery by car.

We have a small car park which we share with the local Pharmacy and other healthcare providers. This is often very busy, particularly during the mornings. If the car park is full and you need to park elsewhere, please do park with due consideration for our local residents, leaving all junctions clear and free for emergency vehicle access. Please also note that parking in the car park for Pullar Court Housing is for residents only.

Home visits  are for patients who are too ill or too immobile to travel to the surgery. If you are likely to need a home visit, please telephone, if possible, before midday. Please make every effort to come to the surgery.

Out of Hours (6:30pm to 8:30am) and weekends

When the surgery is closed, the on-call GP service is provided by NHS Gloucestershire and is available for emergencies only.

Please call the emergency number 08454 220220
